Birch Aquarium Volunteer and Internship Program

Are you a high school student, or recent graduate, looking for invaluable experience, professional connections and unique opportunities?  Birch Aquarium is committed to exposing the next generation of ocean conservationists to diverse careers within the field of marine science. We are seeking enthusiastic teens who are interested in science, have excellent communication skills and who are reliable, flexible and eager to learn. As an InterpreTEEN, you will increase visitor awareness of local and global conservation topics, while encouraging a sense of stewardship and connection to the natural world. You will be interacting with visitors of all ages on a regular basis.  Volunteers are asked to make a minimum six-month commitment of one 4-hour shift per week.

Carlsbad Education Foundation

Whether in our office or at the schools, we are looking for talented, passionate individuals who want to use their skills to have an impact on our young learners!

Helen Woodward Animal Center

At Helen Woodward Animal Center, people help animals and animals help people. Our lives are more precious when trust, unconditional love, respect and care exist as the primary bond between animals and one another. Most of the work that is done here would not be possible without our team of dedicated volunteers, who donate their time to help us continue our mission.

There is a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available for anyone looking to join our family. Whether it’s walking dogs in Adoptions, lending a hand at one of our local events or helping in our Administrative office, there is something for everyone!  Read and learn about the different opportunities available.

San Diego County Board of Education

The San Diego County Board of Education believes it is important to seek out and consider students' ideas, viewpoints, and reactions to their educational program. In order to provide student perspective and promote civic involvement, the county board may appoint a student board member from a candidate pool that includes students who attend a public school within the county.

The selected students will be presented to the board for official appointment at its April meeting.
